Inspired by his Italian honeymoon, fine art wedding photographer, Dima Karpenko, sought to take his love of the culture and the elegance that Italy offers and curate a vision that is truly “la dolce vita“. With it’s stone architecture, olive trees, and Italian cypresses; Villa Catalana Cellars, became the idyllic backdrop for today’s wedding inspiration. Between the beautiful stationery by Pop Calligraphy and the darling Vespa getaway, there’s a bevy of details to adore!

“Our inspiration was born a few years back when my wife and I spent our honeymoon exploring the culture and the landscapes of Italy. Both of us instantly fell in love with the simplicity and elegance that Italy had to offer from exploring the historical landmarks on a Vespa Scooter to eating a gelato ice cream after a long day.
A few years later, we stumbled upon a breathtaking Villa Catalana Cellars, a hidden gem located only 30 minutes south of Portland, OR. The moment our feet stepped on this exquisite property, there was an immediate connection and a flashback to our honeymoon in Italy. Gorgeous stone villa, antique ceramic sculptures, olive trees, Italian cypress, and grape vines as far as the eye can see.
For this Inspiration we wanted to stay as authentic as possible to the culture of Italy, everything from the food, to flowers, and even transportation. The table setting took place under a mature olive tree looking out toward a beautiful garden.
Lush garden style bridal bouquet consisted of all American grown flowers (Oregon and California grown) featuring olive branches, plums, blueberries, nandina, peonies, garden roses, scabiosa and martagon lilies. Assorted boutonnières featured olive branches, blueberries, scabiosa, martagon lilies, nandina, deflexus, dusty Miller; tied in luxurious champagne colored silk ribbon.
Nothing could have completed our Elegant Inspiration as good as an Italian built Vespa scooter. We used the bridal bouquet on the front to complete the look which made the perfect transportation for the bride’s and groom’s take off.”
“Guests will feel the presence of Italy in their hands with handmade invitations framed with olive leaves, which can be seen throughout the entire wedding. Paper goods were inspired by a collection of antique book covers along with the organic feel of old handwritten letters. Roman numerals gave a little nod to beautiful Roma and pops of gold added a touch of elegance to the script. If you pay attention to details, a hand-drawn Villa Catalana Cellars is on the back of the invite envelope.” – Dima
