There are certain features where the words and images match up in the prettiest of ways; where a photographer captures what sets her soul on friend regardless if one has danced ballet or admired the art form from afar, you catch a glimpse into someones passion and that is what we find the most beautiful. Amber Dawn photography captures the grace and eloquence of a ballet dancer ever so wonderfully.
"As a photographer, I hope to bring light to these subtle, peaceful moments, so that everyone can share my appreciation, passion and love for ballet." - Amber Dawn Photography
"Long before I ever picked up a camera and even before I turned three years old, I flitted around my house, blissfully twirling from couch to table. Years later, I danced on my toes en pointe and spun in a tutu on stage. While I have always had an interest in photography, the need to photograph was never as great as my need to dance. Perhaps it was because I knew the career of a dancer was short, it was now or never. Photography could wait...until now. Now that I am older, I understand the gravity of a photograph and how freeing it can be to express oneself in more than one medium."
"One does not need to be a dancer to appreciate ballet, it's beauty is universal. When I look at a ballerina, I see grace, romance, and elegance, but I also see incredible strength, resilience and sometimes heartbreaking determination. I want others to see what I see. With this photo shoot, I aimed to capture ballerinas in a more intimate and comfortable setting, rather than the formal setting one usually sees in the theater. The ballerinas are relaxed and poised, juxtaposed against the raw and exposed brick studio. In ballet you can find beauty and peace in the simplest glance or just a cross of the ankles. The graceful lines and curves are always there when you are a dancer, whether on stage or not."
