When one of my favorite wedding photographers, Alicia Lucia, finds herself in the heart of the south, I know this southern heart of mine is going to be smitten. Set among century old oak trees dripping with moss, Caspiana Plantation House served as the idyllic backdrop for a dramatic Marchesa gown that is the essence of all things chic. Golden tulle pared with soft florals and washes of copper create for the beginnings of an alluring Southern wedding adorned with all the charm one would come to expect.
Words from the photographer -
"When you consider a dreamy Southern wedding, a few things come to mind: an alluring bride, a historic plantation kissed with moss, and of course, an airy, modern gown. Caspiana Plantation House created a majestic background combining white washed doors with copper hinges and moody pecan trees covered in vines. The florals, both in the bouquet and bride’s hair, are whimsical, sweet details. We loved the dramatic Marchesa gown and the way the soft tulle made the whole shoot feel effortlessly glamorous and chic.
Hair and makeup artist, Hannah Kuhary created soft waves in the bride's hair and pinned them back with a stem of lisianthus. Her skin was kept fresh and dewy, while her eyes were the focus of all the drama. Copper metallics and blush tones brought out the bride's green eyes, while glossy mink lashes were added for extra definition and glamour. A peachy nude lip balanced the whole look, without it looking overdone."
Thoughts about the invitations -
"Keeping the charming rustic and historic beauty of the location in mind and the rich tones of the Marchesa gown we wanted everything in the suite to have an ethereal feel that balanced soft and delicate elements of ivory and blushes with earthy tones of copper and tobacco brown with punches of rich burgundy and wine. We brought in hand illustrated magnolia as a nod to the famous southern bloom but paired it with protea to add a twist. Everything was tied together with a mix of copper lotka paper and hand dyed silk ribbon and the envelope sealed with a copper wax fleur de lis to tie back to the dreamy Louisiana setting"
