My Hotel Wedding’s Top 5 Tips For Planning a Wedding

First of all, congratulations! Getting married is such an exciting time in your lives. While putting together your big day may be stressful at times, we’re always here to lend a helping hand. To help you get started off on the right foot, I’m sharing a few of my top tips that I’ve picked up over my 10 years of planning weddings and events.

1. Don’t let your venue’s décor be a deciding factor.

Don’t get caught up in the decor or carpet in your wedding venue. Trust us, nobody will remember what it looks like. They will however remember the food, how they were treated, and the ambiance of the party; so focus more on those aspects of the day instead.

2. Be flexible if you want a better deal

If you’re really looking for a deal, then be flexible on the day of the week or time of year for your wedding. Saturdays and Sundays tend to be the most expensive while weekdays are less in demand and thus are often less expensive. Friday’s are a great choice but be wary of your start time since it can be difficult for guests to get off work early.

3. Hire a planner or at least a day-of.

This is so, so important! A wedding planner can be a real lifesaver for ensuring every last detail is covered leading up to your wedding day, even if you’re having a hotel wedding. If you’ve decided not to hire a planner, we highly encourage you to at least have a day-of planner. This will ensure that you can relax and know that everything is taken care of on your big day.

4. Book a room block for your guests.

Even if you’re not having a destination wedding, securing a room block for your guests is a must-do in our book. Room blocks are so helpful for out-of-town guests and planning wedding weekend events is much easier when everyone is staying at the same place. If your wedding is at a luxury hotel, we suggest securing a room block at a more affordable hotel nearby. It’s always nice to have an option for all your guests, no matter the price point.

5. Take a moment to yourselves between the ceremony and reception.

Take a few moments in-between your ceremony and reception to spend a little alone time with your new spouse. Have a selection of hors d’oeuvres sent up to your hotel room, relax together, and soak it all in. After a whirlwind of a day, this alone time will be much needed!

Above all, remember to have fun! It’s true what they say: your wedding will be over before you know it. So cherish every last minute and know that, even if everything doesn’t go perfectly the day-of, you still get the spend the rest of your life with your new Mr. or Mrs. Happy planning!
